Influenced greatly by the skill, style, creativity and innovation of the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff, D-Whit also gained inspiration from the turntable stylings of DJ Cash Money, Scratch Bastid, Z-Trip and Q-Bert. Locally and more personally, he looked toward other DJs like DJ Jrocc and DJ Mike Nasty for guidance in greatness in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.

About

Hailing from one of the most historical African-American communities in the world, Orange Mound in Memphis, TN, DJ D-Whit began his career in music simply as the captain of the Schools'  drum squad. Shortly after acquiring his first controller, he turned his passion for music into a hobby. His mom, Tracey, provided him with instruments such as a guitar, keyboard, drum pad, and a discovery ion usb deejay controller.  By 2014, DJ D-Whit had finally built and used his first full, self-engineered set as a DJ for one of his family's annual events. Melvin Parker, his stepdad, is credited for planting the seed of deejaying within DJ D-Whit by asking him to deejay the family function. Melvin and Tracey went and bought a set of speakers from the pawn shop to go along with D-Whit's controller for the event and that was the start of his legacy as a DJ.

Soon after, he met the likes of DJ Zoom of Probeat DJs, whom was involved in the same fashion show as his sister at the time. Through DJ Zoom he was given the knowledge on upgrading equipment and DJ Zoom also began to mentor DJ D-Whit throughout the beginning of his career. A few months later, he was able to take on his first gig as a professional DJ at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Passionate about learning, D-Whit believes in being "a student as long as you live" and as an eternal student learned the in's and outs of being a DJ. Through this inspiration, D-Whit was able to develop his turntablism, to scratch, mix and blend, beat juggle, and physically spin records in a raw and refined manner. D-Whit utilizes the turntables in charismatic manners. His skill-based methods and product grow constantly in an upward direction, fueled by his personal drive and wisdom. Spanning nearly every genre there is, his repertoire became expansive and he had grown into a wide-range of clientele.
